It was a magical night at the CFE Arena as the UCF Knights steamrolled over the USF Bulls.
Matt Williams put on a clinic from beyond the arc setting records for both three-pointers made and attempted for the American Athletic Conference and the UCF program. Williams nailed 11 threes, the previous school record was 8. His 9th three, which appeared on Sportscenter’s Top Ten Play’s, was pulled up from 31.5 feet, nearly from the UCF logo at mid-court. The redshirt senior finished the night with a career-high 38 points along, marking the most points scored by a Knight since Jermaine Taylor went for 45 back in 2009.
Tacko Fall and AJ Davis added 10 points and Tank Efianayi had 12 points of his own. UCF has won seven of the past eight games, now (14-4) overall and (5-1) in AAC play. The Knights are 2nd in the nation in rebounds per game averaging 44.4 a night and continued to rebound grabbing another 46 against the Bulls.
The defense continued to play at a high-level forcing 13 turnovers. the Knights are 3rd in the nation holding opponents to only 58.6 points per game and this has allowed UCF to dominant on the court.
UCF goes on the road to face Memphis on the 22nd before returning home on the 25th to face SMU at 6 p.m. on ESPNNews. It will be a tough stretch games for the Knights as they look towards March.
