The UCF men’s basketball team fell just short of completing the comeback Saturday night against the UConn Huskies. The Knights were down as much as 18 points in the second half but were able to rally back to get within three points in the final minutes. The Huskies made their free throws when needed late in the game and UConn escaped 66-63.
BJ Taylor led the team with 20 points while Tacko Fall had six points and added 11 rebounds. Nick Banyard finished with 13 points while Tank Efianayi scored 10 points of his own. Still, the Knights were held to 34.9% from the field and a mere 26.9% from beyond the arc.
UCF has a quick turnaround as they host Tulsa on Tuesday evening at 7pm on ESPNU. There are only five games left in the regular season as Coach Johnny Dawkins and company look to catch fire heading into tournament time.
